Common Questions About Fees
Are there any hidden fees?
No. Renters see the full breakdown — rental + service fee — before they pay, along with the damage-coverage amount kept on file. Owners see the 15% platform fee deducted on each payout. There are no listing fees, no monthly fees, no payout fees, and no surprise charges.
Is a deposit charged when I book?
No deposit is ever charged. Your card is securely kept on file for damages. If the rental completes with no documented damage, nothing happens — your card is never touched. Only if damage is documented is your card charged.
When do owners get paid?
DamnTrailers uses Stripe Connect with daily payouts. Funds clear from each completed rental into the owner's connected bank account on a rolling daily basis after the rental period.
What if I cancel?
Each owner picks a cancellation policy (Flexible, Moderate, or Strict) that's shown on the trailer's listing page. Refunds follow that policy. The 10% service fee is refunded along with whatever portion of the rental the policy covers.
Does DamnTrailers charge sales tax?
DamnTrailers does not add sales tax as a separate line item at checkout. Tax treatment of trailer rentals varies by state and by the owner's circumstances (for example, whether the owner already paid sales tax when they purchased the trailer). Owners are responsible for understanding and complying with sales tax obligations that apply to their rentals — including, where required, building applicable tax into their daily rate. We recommend owners consult a tax advisor for guidance specific to their situation. See our Tax Info for Owners page for general background.
Is there insurance included?
No. DamnTrailers is a marketplace and does not sell, broker, or provide insurance. Owners maintain their own coverage on their trailer; renters' personal auto policies are typically the primary coverage during rentals. The damage coverage kept on the renter's card protects against damage during the rental period.
